I picked up this set at yet another auction. The three piece set coffee table and end tables was originally a dark mahogany finish with a little wear on them. It was a great find as I had just bought a brand new quart of Old White ASCP (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint). This previously loved set needed a little bit of TLC as it had some burn mark and banged up corners. I sanded the top with a heavy grit sander to smooth out the tops to prep for paint.
I can’t rave enough about the Annie Sloan Paint. It is so easy to work with. I’ve started with painting the first coat and applied the second coat painting by dipping my brush in a little water to dilute the paint. Not only does it help with the finish texture but it also helps with conserving paint. Once the coats were done and dried. I applied the Annie Sloan Soft Was – Dark and soften the dark spots and blended the effect with the Soft Was – Clear. It is a lot of elbow grease though. I have yet to master this technique. Although the end results were amazing… there was A LOT Of elbow grease involved. My fingers hurt from rubbing in the clear wax.
And for the photo finish…
This set is also posted in my shop section for sale.
